Eek! I had the best aurora experience after lunch today. One of the firefighters stopped by the store and asked if I’d seen them, when I said I had not, he said they are doing their thing right out the front door. So, I threw my big red on, asked him to watch the store for five minutes and took off. They were all over the sky and literally, right out the front door. Hop on over to my Instagram to check out the snaps. It’s moments like that, that make the winter worth all the darkness.
We had another morale booster on Saturday evening. The galley turned into a pizza parlor for the dinner shift and they pulled out all the bells and whistles. Disposable table clothes, pizza made to order and delivered to our tables, a fixins bar-think Pizza Hut style, breadsticks delivered to the tables…and the galley staff were all dressed like they worked at a pizza joint. Some really embraced their characters as well. Marty acted like the restaurant manager and did table checks and handed out tickets to head to a sundae bar…complete with REAL ice cream. It came on vessel and they have been holding out for this. The whole evening was such a treat.
I split a tuna and pickle pizza with a couple friends. yes, tuna and pickles! The base was a marinara/alfredo mix and it turned out just like a tuna melt, which was the intention. So good. I also had a slice of pineapple and jalapeño and that was equally as delicious. After the pizza party, I opened the store for its evening hour and then headed over to Gallagher’s for Karen’s (winter site manager) birthday party. It was an 80s themed dance party, which was fun, but we were all feeling pretty stuffed from the pizza and ice cream. Quite the birthday celebration for Karen though-pizza, ice cream and a dance party!
