Sunday started with restocking Gallagher’s for brunch bar and then heading to the gerbil gym. Six days of exercise and still going strong. Then it was shower time and brunch before heading to the store. Double brunch brought my second favorite brunch item-baked brie. Yum. Tuna and brie in one weekend, double yum.
In the store, I was so grateful to have the help of IT Adam, who helped my for a few hours in the afternoon as we plugged along in the dusty stockroom getting all the things back there counted in preparation for inventory this week. The dust is next level. It is volcanic dust that blows in through the cracks of the door and everything is coated. Including me.
The nacreous clouds were doing their thing again yesterday, but none were as photo worthy as the ones from the day before. Big news on station yesterday was the spill one of our chefs took in the morning. He has lived and worked in the same building, just like me, all season, but also like me, took the opportunity to move to one of the other dorm buildings to avoid getting roommates at WinFly. Unlike me, he hadn’t really ventured outside for almost the entire season.
The tradeoff for moving to a new roommateless dorm is that we no longer live and work in the same building. On his first morning of ‘commuting’ to work, he took a spill outside his new dorm building at broke his ankle, badly. After the docs confirmed the nasty break, a team of helpers had to move all of his belongings back into his old room so that he doesn’t have to venture outside on a broken foot. This brings a medivac flight, which as long as the weather holds up, will happen next week. Poor guy!
Dinner was scrumptious last night. Homemade ramen, complete with all the fixings and homemade noodles. So good. I ate with Pepper and Brian and we had a really nice dinner together. Brian shared his experience traveling to the Yucatan for an Ayahuasca retreat and his stories were super interesting. He is from Lindsay, Oklahoma which is 45 minutes from where I lived for seven years of my childhood and it was just really enjoyable having a lovely dinner and good conversation with both of them.
I came up to my room after dinner and did day six of Yoga with Adriene, watched a movie and read my book before turning in for a good nights rest. Another busy, but enjoyable day in the books and another day closer to our first sunrise.
