antarctica: 100-days of darkness

Day Eighty-Five

With the move over to the 207 dorm building and inventory in the store taking place early next week, well, things be busy-busy. Busy is good and probably the new norm from here on out til I depart for the non frozen world. This evening there were two birthday parties on station. One for our head of the supply department this winter, Toni, and another for fuelie, Miss Piper. I opted not to go to either as I am exhausted and the party scene sounds even more exhausting. Piper got permission to use the galley kitchen to make homemade donuts though and I was able to sneak one of those in after dinner and also wish her a happy birthday.

I got a visit to the gerbil gym in before work and did day four of Yoga with Adriene this evening, so the streak continues. At work, I spent a big part of the day in the day in the stock room getting as much counted as I could to ease the counting next week. There are still lots of loose ends I am gradually tying up, so work is busy for me. With so much to do, the days are flying by and it’s really starting to sink in that this will all come to an end before I know it. I have no doubt that these last two months are going to really pass so quickly.

My bestie, Francesca, reached out today and let me know that she went for a walk yesterday. She brought another tiny human into the world recently, Miss Ava Marie and sends me pics frequently. She said that reading about my recent motivation inspired her to get moving, and it makes me so happy to know that these words reach people out there in the non frozen world. I miss her so much and connections like that make me feel just a little bit closer.

  1. Only 15 more days of journals for this project and what are we all going to do then? Nothing to look forward to in our inbox 😦
Love and miss you heaps! I did tell you the rest of your time there will be over before you know it.
