Day Thirty-Seven

I’ve been back in the can’t fall asleep until after two in the morning zone, which is extra yuck. It was around two when I looked at the clock for the last time and then my alarm went off just before eight. I’d arranged to join supply in the warehouse for the store this morning. Every other Friday they bring me whatever I’ve ordered for store resupply needs along with items from vessel that need to be tagged. I don’t normally go with them to actually pull the items, but I placed a big order this week and thought it would be nice to help them with the pull. The warehouse that everything is stored in isn’t heated so after a some quick yoga and stretching, I bundled up in all my cold weather gear and headed down to the store to meet them.

We had some weather over night so I when I went out the back door of the store to jump in the truck with them, I was met with a couple feet of snow on the loading dock of the store. We headed down to the warehouse and pulled my order, which consisted of backing a truck into a two-story warehouse that has a big hole in the second floor to toss boxes down through, while someone stood in the bed of the truck catching. Then back up to the store to unload it all. We called Fleet Ops to come over with a life size Tonka Toy and move some of the snow out of the way and then I got a morning workout in clearing the rest off by hand shoveling.

The rest of the day was business as usual. The daily grind of store lady life. I definitely get bored with the monotony, but not like I did in banker life. There are enough opportunities to keep work mildly entertaining. The repetition is mildly painful sometimes though. I know that’s life, but it always makes me start questioning what the point of it all is. I had two options for this evening’s entertainment. I was invited over to the station manager’s suite for drinks and games and also invited over to Scott Base for Friday night darts. I opted for the latter and am headed over to see the Kiwi’s for a 501 tournie.
